Download the Unix/Linux Version of TTT and unpack it to $home/ttt
It is recommended to use the sftp/VNC based postprocessing/publishing workstation dellseidlttt.informatik.tu-muenchen.de
contact the maintainers for the access passwords
install Cyberduck for transferring the recordings to the postprocessing/publishing workstation
Typical Recording Workflow
The following guide is for student assistants or lecturers, preparing the hardware setup for a recording session:
Power on beamer (via remote, button or touchscreen)
Connect beamer to laptop's VGA
Connect laptop's audio input (red connector) with either
audio receiver -- check frequency / power
audio out cable from lecture hall
Power on microphone / check frequency
Check level display on '''both''' receiver and microphone
Also, from software point of view, we need to prepare/check certain things:
Boot up laptop
Check whether laptop/beamer combination works
Check whether pen works
Boot up (local) VNC Server
Start TTT client
Start a teacher/present&record session
Create/choose appropriate entry
Check audio amplitude
In connected VNC session start up evince and open slides
Switch evince to fullscreen
Switch TTT to fullscreen
Don't forget to hit the red button!
No or Bad Microphone input in the TUM Hörsaal?
Most recent tablets/notebooks do not have seperate input/output jacks any more - the combined headset jack is not compatible with a pure microphone plug. Make sure to bring the right audio adapter cable, if Your device hase a combined microphone/headset jack. In fact, we have formidable experiences with China-made external USB Sound systems for under 5 bucks with our Ubuntu-Lecturerecorder-Tablets.
The automatically chosen audio input is not the one You desire?
Add the command line parameter-Djavax.sound.sampled.TargetDataLine=#AUDIOSYSTEMOFCHOICE with AUDIOSYSTEMOFCHOICE being an identifier from Javas AudioSystem (valid options can be found under the menu item Help/About Teleteachingtool)
How can I publish lectures on the TTT Website?
Generate an ssh-keypair and send the public key to the website maintainers to get further instructions!
On MacOS X, TTT does not connect to the integrated VNC (Desktop Sharing)!
The internal VNC Server is not as standard compatible, as we would have whished for. use Vine Server/OSXVNC instead.
Flash generator produces 0-byte size files
The flash generator needs excessive amounts of RAM - try to assign the TTT more memory if possible
